Stateside actor Finn, who featured in popular television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles recently having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, per media reports.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a announcement.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Notable Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a party host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
