Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
