The acclaimed UK star Mirren, previously recipient of an Oscar, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, multiple Emmy accolades, and a Tony, will soon earn an additional major award to her collection: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' career honor.

Award Event

Dame Helen, octogenarian, who was given a damehood back in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in the year 2014, will accept the award at an event on 8 January, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony are held, within an event billed by the Globes as the Golden Eve event.

Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for TV work, the recipient of which is still to be revealed. Last year’s winners included Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a force of nature, and her career is absolutely exceptional,” stated the Golden Globes president, Helen Hoehne. “Her brilliant portrayals and dedication to acting constantly motivate countless performers and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to bestow upon her this lifetime achievement honor.”

Career Highlights

The star became well-known during the seventies via important performances in stage productions in London’s theater district and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her prominent part in the crime series Prime Suspect expanded her audience even more. Other key films include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 in The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan about the meetings between the queen and premier Margaret Thatcher, a performance for which Mirren won a Tony back in 2015.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

• Subsequent cinematic works include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, for which she provided narration.
• Her role in the streaming adaptation for The Thursday Murder Club has garnered acclaim with award talk is growing about her portrayal as a terminally ill matriarch in the film by Kate Winslet initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, Mirren will be seen as Patricia Highsmith in Anton Corbijn’s drama, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nods will be announced December 8, including the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners anticipated to be prominent.
