Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a former physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
