Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
