'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game ended with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative effort from outside the box, and the defender promptly hammered in the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory capped an unbelievable turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result secured a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the opposition who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to control and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has quickly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, shining for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches encounters against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been a remarkable path for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How hard was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one out of the minibus and on the road. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
