Outrage as Popular South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.

A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the forty-year-old media personality was accosted by three individuals, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.

The motive behind the incident is unknown and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.

Details of the Attack

Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.

He had devoted time at the property overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.

"Authorities believe the deceased was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report confirmed.

Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocks and wearing what resembled a security uniform firing shots on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.

Key evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the location.

Call for Public Assistance

Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to come forward.

"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to determine their destination," added an official.

Outpouring of Grief

His family member, a close relative, stated the relatives are devastated to process his death.

"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were willing to tackle. This is a tremendous loss."

She appealed to the community to not sharing disturbing footage from the incident, saying this was an extremely painful time, especially for Stock's three sons.

His Professional Legacy

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that aired on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.

Apart from his work in broadcasting, Stock was involved in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including private security, offering elite guarding services and managing safety for prestigious gatherings across South Africa.

He was also understood to participate in real estate operations and was involved in property reclaimations.

In a statement, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his magnetism, kindness and quick humor, adding that his influence "will live on".
