19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized the Russian player secured his first title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-term coach Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This marks his maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of that year.
Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.
He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
He rescued 4 early opportunities in a close final set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
