Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
